MRO services provider VD Gulf serves its first Boeing 777 customer in Sharjah

VD Gulf, Volga-Dnepr Technics’ subgroup company within Volga-Dnepr Group located in Sharjah, UAE, has welcomed its first Boeing 777 customer for MRO services.

The Boeing 777 is a new addition to the VD Gulf portfolio and complements the company’s maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) capabilities for Boeing 747/ 737CL/NG and Airbus A320 family aircraft. As the largest Middle East MRO provider, VD Gulf is able to facilitate B777 base maintenance inside its wide-body aircraft hangar, a 22,000 sq.m. facility equipped to serve various aircraft types.

The Iraqi Airways’ 777 aircraft landed in Sharjah, UAE, to undergo heavy C-check and other out-of-phase tasks along with ADs/SBs. The whole process of base maintenance work took 14 days and was orchestrated by VD Gulf’s team of experts.

Earlier this year, VD Gulf announced the expansion of its capabilities as well as its approval to carry out MRO services on this aircraft type. The company’s Boeing 777 core maintenance team consists of EASA-approved engineers and specialists with several years of Boeing 777 MRO experience, capable of guaranteeing the required level of service quality within the set timeframes. This product, together with the other Boeing aircraft types maintained by VD Gulf, enables it to act as an ideal MRO provider and partner offering dedicated services for airline operators, leasing companies and aircraft owners.

Ayrat Gilmutdinov, VD Gulf’s Director Commercial, said: “We have been expanding our services in line with our customers’ expectations. Given that many operators are switching to the Boeing 777 aircraft type, it was important for us to respond to customer requests in a timely manner and to be able to offer them high-quality services for their latest fleet additions. We are proud to have carried out this work for Iraqi Airways and grateful for their trust in VD Gulf.”
