A Virgin Australia flight from Denpasar to Brisbane turned chaotic after all three onboard toilets failed, forcing passengers to relieve themselves in bottles and sinks during the six-hour journey. The Boeing 737 MAX 8 had already departed with one toilet out of service, and the remaining two malfunctioned mid-flight, leaving passengers without facilities for the final three hours.
One elderly woman reportedly wet herself, while passengers described foul odours and urine seeping onto the floor. Virgin apologised, offered flight credits, and praised the crew for handling the “challenging situation.”
The Transport Workers Union condemned the incident as a “severe hazard” for passengers and staff, saying it reflects an industry trend of prioritising profits over safety.
