Uzbekistan Airways has placed its largest order in history, acquiring 14 Boeing 787-9 jets with options for eight more, making it Central Asia’s first 787 operator. The deal, unveiled with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Boeing leaders, will modernise the airline’s widebody fleet and support nearly 35,000 U.S. jobs.
The 787-9s will expand Uzbekistan Airways’ long-haul network, enhancing connectivity to Europe, Asia, and the U.S., including New York City. The aircraft’s fuel efficiency, advanced aerodynamics, and passenger comfort will allow the airline to open new international routes and increase capacity.
Boeing emphasised that the Dreamliner’s versatility and operational efficiency make it a cornerstone for Uzbekistan Airways’ growth and sustainable expansion.
