United Airlines has temporarily suspended Starlink satellite internet on about 20 Embraer E175 regional jets after discovering radio interference affecting pilot communications with air traffic control. The issue surfaced nine months after United began rolling out Starlink across its fleet.
An investigation linked the interference to the newly installed Starlink antennas, prompting the airline to disable the service on affected aircraft as a precaution. United emphasised that such issues are common during initial Wi-Fi integrations and that it is working closely with Starlink to resolve them.
Despite the setback, United maintains strong support for Starlink and plans to continue expanding its use, including Spotify integration in its in-flight entertainment system by 2026. The issue is limited in scope and not expected to derail long-term plans.
