A nationwide ground stop affecting United Airlines flights due to a “technology issue” was resolved Wednesday night. The disruption caused delays at major hubs including Newark, Chicago, San Francisco, and Houston.
While the cause remains unclear, flights already in the air continued as scheduled, and regional flights were unaffected. United warned of residual delays and is working to return to normal operations.
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy confirmed the issue was internal to United and not related to the national air traffic system, with FAA support ongoing.
