Two United Airlines jets made contact on the tarmac at Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport on 18 November, delaying passengers on two evening departures.
United said Flight UA544 (Boeing 737-900ER reg. N69806), bound for Cleveland, was preparing to taxi when its wing struck the wing of Flight UA2451 (Boeing 737-900ER reg. N68843), which had just pushed back for its trip to Orlando. No injuries were reported.
Both aircraft returned to their gates, where passengers deplaned and were later re-accommodated on replacement aircraft. Each flight ultimately departed with more than a two-hour delay and arrived safely at its destination.
The incident follows a similar minor ground collision involving United aircraft in San Francisco in September.
