On behalf of all Group employees, the members of TUI’s top management laid a wreath on the beach section where the terrorist attack had started and observed a minute’s silence in memory of the victims.
The Board members subsequently met around 100 TUI and RIU employees in order to discuss the events and the current situation with them and thank them for their tireless efforts and hard work. “We are proud to have a team around us that is doing its very, very best for our customers, and our TUI under emotionally difficult conditions. Our employees have given our brand a face in an excellent manner,” emphasized Joussen. The German Minister of the Interior de Maizière, the German Ambassador Dr Andreas Reinicke and the Tunisian government paid generous tribute to the work performed by the TUI and RIU employees and our Care Teams. Joussen: “I am proud of the strong cohesion and team spirit felt in a difficult situation.”
In the afternoon, Fritz Joussen also held talks with Beji Caid el Sebsi, President of the Tunisian Republic, as well as Prime Minister Habib Essid. The Group CEO above all sought information about the future initiatives the Tunisian government is planning to launch in order to rapidly and effectively increase its security measures in the North African country.
