TUI fly Palma–Düsseldorf flight diverted to Ibiza after radar malfunction

Share

TUI fly flight from Palma de Mallorca to Düsseldorf arrived more than 16 hours late after a suspected weather-radar fault forced the aircraft to divert to Ibiza.

Flight X3 2323, operated by a Boeing 737 MAX 8 registered D-AMAE, departed Palma at approximately 20:30 on Friday, 28 August. Shortly after take-off, the pilots reportedly detected a malfunction affecting the aircraft’s weather radar and initially planned to return to Palma.

However, severe weather had temporarily closed Palma Airport, preventing the aircraft from landing there. After circling over Mallorca, the crew diverted to nearby Ibiza, where the Boeing landed safely.

Passengers disembarked and were provided with overnight hotel accommodation while technicians repaired the aircraft. The flight continued to Düsseldorf the following day, arriving at approximately 15:00 on 29 August—more than 16 hours behind schedule.
