TUI fly Nordic flight 6B234 from Gran Canaria to Gothenburg (Boeing 737 MAX 8 registered SE-RND) was forced to make an emergency landing in Santiago de Compostela on Wednesday after a female passenger became violently aggressive mid-flight. Witnesses say the woman screamed, assaulted a fellow passenger by pulling her hair, and attacked a flight attendant.
Passengers reported she appeared intoxicated before boarding. One victim, Sawza Hussein, described the incident as “terribly traumatic” and required medical attention.
The woman was taken into custody by Spanish police, and passengers spent the night in a nearby hotel. A replacement flight BLX2DN operated by the same aircraft is bringing them home this morning, 7 August, without the disruptive passenger.
TUI praised the crew’s handling of the situation and is investigating how the woman was allowed to board.
