More and more passengers are travelling with baggage that is too big and/or too heavy. The space on planes is limited and it is sometimes impossible to store all the hand luggage in the racks provided for this purpose. These pieces of hand baggage are then often brought into the hold, which can cause dissatisfaction of the holidaymaker concerned. This unnecessary waste of time is not pleasant for other passengers and may even delay the take-off of the flight in question. TUI fly thus takes action to educate travellers.
Each holidaymaker who flies on a TUI fly flight can carry a maximum of 10 kg of hand luggage that cannot exceed the following dimensions: 55 x 40 x 20 cm. Until now, these standards were not rigorously implemented at check-in, which led to a large number of pieces of baggage that was too heavy or too big onboard aircraft. A space problem arose in the luggage compartments of the cabin and part of the luggage had to be brought in the hold.
Today, TUI fly wants to educate passengers and recalls its policy on hand luggage. A campaign was launched at various airports, on social networks, in brochures and in travel documents.
A piece of hand luggage that meets the standards allows efficient and fast boarding, which will avoid delays. TUI fly also recalls that lighter luggage reduces CO2 emissions.
