TUI fly Belgium will sharply reduce its summer 2026 schedule at Antwerp’s Deurne Airport, cancelling flights to Ibiza, Antalya, and Crete. The airline will operate only one Embraer E195-E2 aircraft from Deurne next summer, effectively extending its limited winter programme into the peak season. As a result, service will be restricted to four destinations: Tenerife, Malaga, Alicante, and Mallorca—routes that perform strongly due to demand from second-home owners.
According to spokesperson Piet Demeyere, the decision is driven by commercial considerations and the need to prioritise profitability. With Antwerp and Brussels airports located close together, TUI fly is reallocating capacity to Brussels, where demand for destinations such as Ibiza and Crete is stronger and supports more competitive pricing.
Operational challenges also shaped recent performance. In 2024, Antwerp Airport saw passenger numbers drop 20% to 208,845, partly due to spare parts shortages that forced TUI fly to move flights to Brussels for several months. Similar uncertainty delayed the start of the 2025 summer season. The reduced aircraft deployment and limited destination offering are expected to further weigh on Deurne’s passenger figures in 2026.
