The strong desire for travel and a craving for winter sunshine are evident among Belgians, as mid-season booking figures reveal an astonishing 40% increase in Christmas holiday bookings compared to the previous year,” TUI fly Belgium announced in a press release. To meet this soaring demand, the holiday group has introduced an additional 4,000 airplane seats to its offerings and warns: “Those contemplating a holiday on the Canary or Cape Verde Islands should not delay any longer.

Additional capacity has been created for destinations like Tunisia and Turkey, but the bulk of the expansion is allocated to the four Canary Islands: Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, and Fuerteventura. “These four winter holiday destinations are popular in their own right, but this year, demand is exceptionally high. The uncertain situation in the Middle East has further fueled demand over the past two weeks,” TUI added.

As a result, there’s a looming shortage of accommodations, and the hotels in the Canary and Cape Verde Islands will soon struggle to meet this surging demand. The first fully booked hotels have already been reported, and last-minute deals may become a rarity. Those planning to book in the coming weeks should anticipate a significantly reduced selection, with few available rooms in the popular hotels.”
