Ostend-Bruges Airport is preparing for the summer season with an expanded leisure network, driven by a 5.3% increase in capacity from TUI fly Belgium and a stronger focus on direct flights.
The airport will offer 13 sun destinations across Spain, Greece, Turkey and Egypt, with Spanish routes dominating demand. Malaga leads with daily flights, followed by Alicante, Tenerife and other popular holiday spots such as Palma de Mallorca, Ibiza and Gran Canaria.
A key development this year is the expansion of non-stop services, including newly introduced direct flights to Palma de Mallorca and full-season direct operations to the Canary Islands. Additional direct frequencies have also been added to Rhodes and Antalya, enhancing convenience for travellers.
The strategy reflects growing passenger preference for regional departures, shorter travel times and simplified journeys, with around 20% of passengers travelling to second homes or visiting friends and family.
Between April and October, the airport expects to handle approximately 290,000 passengers, signalling steady demand for regional leisure travel. The expansion reinforces Ostend-Bruges Airport’s positioning as a convenient alternative to larger hubs, particularly for travellers in West and East Flanders seeking direct access to holiday destinations.
