Passengers on TUI flight TB1072 from Malaga, Spain, to Ostend-Bruges Airport have been delayed for more than 32 hours due to a technical issue with the aircraft, leaving them stranded in the Spanish city since Wednesday morning.
The flight was originally scheduled to depart on Wednesday at 10:00 local time. Shortly before departure, a technical fault was identified on the aircraft. As repairs could not be carried out locally, the flight was cancelled. Passengers were subsequently accommodated in a hotel in Malaga for an additional overnight stay.
On Thursday morning, passengers were transported back to the airport by bus, but the situation remained unclear for several hours. According to witnesses reporting to Belgian daily Het Laatste Nieuws, no TUI representative was present at the airport, and airport staff were unable to provide clear information on how the situation would be resolved.
TUI has since arranged a replacement aircraft. The Boeing 737, registered OO-TUV, is being ferried from Amsterdam to Malaga and is expected to land around 17:00 local time. The onward flight to Ostend-Bruges is currently scheduled to depart at approximately 18:10
