Around 300 passengers got stranded in Cancun, Mexico after a technical issue with a TUI fly Belgium Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner (OO-JDL). On 18 November – three days ago – the aircraft uneventfully departed Brussels, Belgium towards Cancun, Mexico. The holiday airline, however, was forced to cancel the return flight after a problem with the aircraft’s rudder.
While passengers were accommodated in a hotel, a spare part was flown in to fix the technical issue. Subsequently, the passengers are expected to return to Belgium this evening, spokesman Piet Demeyere confirmed to Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws.
