Thailand is preparing to launch a campaign offering 200,000 free domestic flights to international visitors between September and November 2025. The scheme, “Buy International, Free Thailand Domestic Flights,” would give eligible air arrivals a subsidised round-trip ticket worth up to THB 3,500 (€80), encouraging travellers to explore destinations beyond Bangkok, Phuket and Chiang Mai.
Supported by six airlines, the promotion aims to generate THB 8.8 billion (€200 million) in revenue from a THB 700 million (€16 million) budget. It comes as Thailand faces slowing tourism growth: the 2025 arrivals forecast has been cut to 33 million, well below the 39 million target.
The move follows other incentives, including visa relaxations and delayed entry fees, as the government seeks to revive a sector hit by safety concerns, regional tensions and weaker demand from key markets.
Cabinet approval is still pending before the free-flight programme can launch.
