Thai Airways International plans to expand its European route network in the coming months, while closely monitoring risks linked to potential jet fuel shortages, geopolitical instability, and rising operational costs.
The airline said it is responding to warnings from the International Air Transport Association, which has highlighted possible short-term fuel supply pressures and the risk of flight disruptions across Europe and parts of Asia amid ongoing geopolitical tensions.
Despite these concerns, Thai Airways is moving ahead with network growth, including the resumption of daily flights on the Bangkok–Amsterdam route starting 1 July 2026. The carrier currently serves 62 destinations across its domestic and international network.
The airline also emphasised that it is actively managing risk through fuel hedging, efficiency improvements, dynamic pricing, and network adjustments to match demand. It has delayed or suspended non-essential investments to preserve liquidity and maintain financial resilience.
Thai Airways said its strategy focuses on prioritising high-demand, lower-risk markets while adjusting frequencies and routes in response to evolving conditions. In the first quarter of 2026, the airline reported slightly lower revenue but higher net profit year-on-year, supported by reduced finance costs and one-off gains.
