On 8 October, a Thai Airways Boeing 747-400 (HS-TGF) from Guangzhou skidded off the runway just after landing at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi airport. Heavy rain was reported. A representative working for the airline confirmed that no one was injured, flight TG 679 carried 97 passengers and 18 crew members. The passengers were transported to the airport terminal and awaited their luggage with some drinks and food.
An investigation has been launched by the aviation authorities, about 6 hours after the incident the aircraft was pulled out of the unpaved section of the runway. (see video)
