Airline rose to 1,156.301 passengers, some 12.2% above October 2015 with more 126,880 passengers carried

According to the traffic results reported for October 2016, TAP has posted a 12.2 per cent growth in the number of passengers flown, compared to same month last year, rising to an overall 1,156.301 passengers carried in its system-wide network, some 126,880 more passengers than in October 2015. Thereby, TAP reported last month the best traffic results for an October month ever, with an exceptional performance for such a period of the year when demand traditionally decreases.

In line with such an increase in traffic, TAP achieved in October a seat load-factor of 85.4 per cent in its system-wide network, with a growth of 4.8 percentage points over same period last year, thus clearly showing the positive consequences resulting from an effective management in offer along with the adjustments introduced by the company to reinforce its capacity in those markets with higher demand.

Among all sectors of the network, mention is to be made to the 119 per cent increase seen in the US routes, which strongly contributed to the favorable traffic results reported by TAP in October. The company now is a relevant option to the North-Americans travelling out of the USA to Europe and Portugal, a destination which is becoming increasingly more popular and chosen by US travellers, with the TAP Stopover branded product having a significant contribution in promoting Portugal abroad.

Likewise, the company also posted traffic increases for the African routes and the European ones, respectively of 18 per cent in the first case and six per cent in the second.

In what concerns The Portuguese domestic market, the highlights go to the 18.5 per cent increase in traffic figures for both the Madeira and the Azores regions together, as well as to the favorable results achieved by the Lisbon/Porto route with a 98 per cent growth in traffic. These Lisbon/Porto shuttle services, launched last March, are gaining more and more customers every month. Passengers on this route benefit from exclusive and easy check-in and boarding procedures along with very competitive prices, TAP having recently announced the introduction of a new fare of 24€ (25€ from NOV. 1 – DEC. 31, due to airport taxes that change within this period).
