Liège Airport opens first direct cargo link with Chongqing

Share

Liège Airport has strengthened its position as Europe’s leading freighter hub with the launch of a new direct scheduled cargo service between Liège and Chongqing, operated by Suparna Airlines.

The route marks the first-ever direct air cargo connection between Liège Airport and Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport, establishing a strategic air bridge between Belgium and Western China. The new service is a significant addition to Liège’s expanding cargo network and underlines its role as a key gateway for trade between Europe and China.

“We are proud to welcome Suparna Airlines to Liège Airport and to launch our first direct scheduled connection with Chongqing,” said Torsten Wefers, Vice President Sales & Marketing at Liège Airport. He described Chongqing as an important new destination that further reinforces Liège’s reputation as a trusted and efficient logistics hub linking China and Europe.

Chongqing is one of Western China’s most important logistics and e-commerce centres, handling large volumes of e-commerce shipments, high-tech goods, automotive parts and industrial cargo. The new Suparna Airlines service will support growing cross-border trade flows while enabling Liège Airport to further diversify and strengthen its Asian cargo footprint.

A spokesperson for Chongqing Airport welcomed the launch, calling it an important step in expanding the airport’s international cargo network. The new link, they said, will enhance trade ties with Europe and further consolidate Chongqing’s role as a major logistics hub in Western China.
