South African Airways (SAA) and Turkish Airlines have officially activated their new codeshare agreement on 15 July 2026, strengthening connections between Africa, Türkiye and major international markets.
Under the agreement, Turkish Airlines will add its TK flight code to SAA-operated routes from Johannesburg and Cape Town to destinations including Durban, Port Elizabeth, Windhoek, Harare, Victoria Falls and Mauritius. In return, SAA will place its SA code on Turkish Airlines-operated flights linking Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban with Istanbul, as well as selected European destinations including Paris, London and Frankfurt.
The partnership will allow passengers to benefit from smoother connections through the airlines’ main hubs in Johannesburg and Istanbul, providing wider network access and more travel options.
Tickets became available from 15 July, with the first codeshare flights operating from 16 July 2026. The two airlines said they will continue exploring further cooperation, including additional route development and deeper network integration.
