South African Airways (SAA) will introduce a direct service between Cape Town and Mauritius from December 9, 2025, in a move that strengthens the airline’s regional network and boosts tourism connectivity between southern Africa and the Indian Ocean.
The route will operate three times a week, with flights departing from Cape Town on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 09:25, and arriving in Mauritius at 16:30. Return flights will depart from Mauritius at 17:20, landing back in Cape Town at 21:30. The flight time is approximately five hours.
The airline confirmed that from mid-January to mid-March 2026, service will be reduced to twice weekly to reflect seasonal travel patterns.
“Connecting Cape Town with Mauritius is a significant milestone we’ve long aimed for,” said SAA CEO Professor John Lamola. “This new route underscores our commitment to regional leisure travel and supports broader tourism goals for both South Africa and Mauritius.”
Tebogo Tsimane, SAA’s Chief Commercial Officer, noted that the schedule was developed in consultation with local tour operators to align with peak holiday demand. “It’s about giving our customers greater flexibility and convenience during the busiest travel seasons,” Tsimane said.
The Cape Town–Mauritius route marks the latest step in SAA’s strategic growth plan, as the airline continues to rebuild and expand its international footprint.
