Sky Lease Cargo Boeing 747 from Chicago went off the end of runway 32 at Halifax Stanfield Airport


On 7 November at 05:05 (UTC -4), a Sky Lease Cargo Boeing 747 (N908AR) from Chicago, Illinois, went off the end of runway 32 upon its scheduled landing at Halifax Stanfield Airport. The airport immediately activated its emergency plan, the emergency response team responded to the accident along with local emergency responders including Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), Halifax Regional Police (HRP), Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency (HRFE), and Emergency Health Services (EHS).

The aircraft was carrying four crew members who have been removed from the aircraft and transported to hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The airfield has been closed temporarily. There will be no flight arrivals and departures until further notice. Passengers are advised to check with their airlines on the status of flights prior to coming to the airport.

The transportation safety board has deployed investigators to the scene.
