SAS has announced a new year-round route between Copenhagen and Mumbai, launching on June 2, 2026, marking its return to India after 17 years. The route will operate five times weekly using Airbus A330-300 aircraft, enhancing connectivity between Scandinavia, India, and North America.
Mumbai, as India’s financial capital and a major cultural hub, is seen as a strategic addition to SAS’s long-haul network. The new route supports smooth onward connections to cities like New York, Boston, and Toronto, strengthening Copenhagen’s role as an intercontinental hub.
SAS CEO Anko van der Werff highlighted India’s growing economic importance and the route’s potential to boost business and leisure travel between the regions. This expansion reflects SAS’s continued focus on long-haul growth and operational reliability, as recently underscored by being named the world’s most punctual airline by Cirium for two consecutive months.
The launch is subject to final government approval.
