An SAS Airbus A330-300 registered LN-RKU, bound for Mumbai as flight SK969, returned to Copenhagen after around six hours in the air following a technical indication, the airline said.
The aircraft departed Copenhagen at approximately 16:25 local time and reached Turkish airspace before turning back, according to Flightradar24 tracking data.
SAS said the pilots elected to return to the airline’s base, where maintenance teams could assess the aircraft more readily, reducing the risk of a prolonged grounding in Mumbai. The airline said it would assist passengers and rebook them onto the next available flights. The nature of the technical indication was not disclosed.
The disruption comes shortly after SAS launched five weekly Copenhagen–Mumbai services on 2 October. An earlier launch attempt in June was aborted, with the inaugural flight returning after around seven hours because the airline lacked the necessary approval from India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation. SAS subsequently secured authorisation to begin the service.
