SAS launches new direct route to Beirut from Stockholm

Share

At the end of June, SAS will begin to fly from Stockholm to Beirut twice a week. The route will initially be operated on Wednesdays and Sundays and then from mid-August on Wednesdays and Saturdays until 7 September. SAS already flies to the Lebanese capital from Copenhagen during the summer months.

The new route, which launches on 30 June, establishes an even better connection between Scandinavia and one of the world’s oldest cities, which boasts a wide range of experiences: well-preserved castles, historic churches and mosques, beautiful beaches and the world-famous Lebanese cuisine.

We are seeing increased demand for travel to Beirut from Scandinavia and we are pleased that we can now also offer an attractive timetable for our passengers from Arlanda. Beirut is an exciting holiday destination, while many people in Scandinavia also have a connection to the region. For SAS, this is another way of strengthening our network and offering our travellers easy access to popular destinations”, says Karl Sandlund, EVP Commercial, SAS.

Tickets go on sale on April 2nd and the route will be operated using Airbus A320neo and Boeing 737-800 aircraft. The environmental impact is a key issue for the airline industry and SAS is working intensively to renew and upgrade its fleet to reduce fuel consumption and emissions.

Making travel more sustainable is vital for the airline industry and SAS is aiming to reduce carbon emissions by 25% by 2030. This will mainly be done through the modernization of the fleet and increased use of biofuel. As part of its environmental efforts, SAS has also chosen to carbon offset all SAS flights where a EuroBonus number is entered at the time of booking,” says Karl Sandlund, EVP Commercial, SAS.
