The European Regions Airline Association (ERA) is delighted to welcome the external production division of Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) into its expanding and varied airline membership.
This is the third airline to join ERA in recent weeks, illustrating the trust that Europe’s aviation industry places in the association.
Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) works with a number of ERA members through its external production division as part of its strategy to lease in capacity from strategic airline partners. SAS External Production adds further strength and diversity to ERA’s membership, which includes 53 airlines and 138 airport, manufacturer and supplier members involved in European aviation.
Mikael Wångdahl, Vice President, SAS External Production, comments:
We believe it is important for SAS to be a member of ERA. Most of our strategic wet lease partners are members of this association. Regional airlines are important in the airline industry as well as for SAS. Therefore it’s important that we are represented where our partners are.
Simon McNamara, ERA Director General, says:
SAS has an innovative business model for its short-haul European network that includes partnerships with many of our airline members so their involvement in ERA makes perfect sense and I am delighted to welcome them into membership. We are very much looking forward to representing SAS External Production’s concerns and interests in our work.
Two other airlines, Croatia Airlines and APG Airlines, have also joined ERA in recent weeks. The association provides outstanding and demonstrable value to its members through its effective leadership, proactive representation and ongoing communication, and plays an important role in influencing the work of key decision makers in Europe, including the European Commission, the European Parliament, Eurocontrol, the SESAR entities and the European Civil Aviation Conference.
