SATA Group has unveiled its IATA Summer 2026 schedule, placing a strong emphasis on reinforcing air links between mainland Portugal and the Azores, while maintaining stable connectivity to North America. Together, Azores Airlines and SATA Air Açores will operate more than 800 flights per week to and from the archipelago, following a strategy focused on efficiency, sustainability, and network complementarity.
For summer 2026, SATA will increase frequencies on its core domestic routes, notably Lisbon–Ponta Delgada, Lisbon–Terceira, and Porto–Ponta Delgada, concentrating capacity on high-demand markets. Underperforming routes such as Ponta Delgada–Milan and Ponta Delgada–Bilbao will not be resumed. Inter-island services will broadly match summer 2025 levels, with targeted reinforcements on routes that consistently exceed 90% load factors.
Between March 29 and October 31, Azores Airlines plans nearly 270 weekly flights across 20 routes, with around 75% of capacity dedicated to the domestic market, reinforcing its role as the only carrier offering direct flights from Lisbon, Porto, and Faro to the Azores. North America remains a strategic pillar, with around 50 weekly flights to Boston, Toronto, New York, and Montreal, alongside continued service to Praia (Cape Verde). European services to Paris and Barcelona will continue year-round, with Frankfurt resuming as a seasonal route.
SATA Air Açores will operate approximately 572 inter-island flights per week on 16 routes, supported by a fleet of seven aircraft, with additional capacity on high-demand links such as Ponta Delgada–Terceira, Pico, Horta, and Flores. A further Bombardier Q400 is scheduled to join the fleet from June to support peak demand.
The coordinated planning between the two airlines aims to ensure shorter connection times and seamless travel across the islands, underpinning SATA’s public service obligations and its commitment to accessibility for residents and the Azorean diaspora. The full summer 2026 program is now open for booking, with limited scope for further frequency adjustments subject to slot availability.
