S7 group airlines have summarized the results of their performance in June 2018. Last month, the airlines transported 1,534,999 passengers, 12.6% more than in June 2017.
1,096,528 passengers flew with S7 Airlines domestically, 12.4 % more than in June 2017, while passenger volumes on international flights increased by 13.2%. In June 2018, the airline carried 438,471 passengers on its international flights.
Within a month passenger turnover rose by 8.7% to reach 3,189,746 thousand pkm, while freight turnover increased by 8.2 % to 297,852 thousand tkm.
“Growth in passenger numbers on domestic flights in June stemmed from fans actively travelling on S7 Airlines flights to all the World Cup host cities. Last month we carried approximately 100,000 passengers, whose flights were connected with the football championship. We came to an agreement with airports to schedule additional flights, and increased flight frequency to World Cup host cities around match days in order to ensure that all the fans had an opportunity to comfortably reach destinations where their national teams were scheduled to play. For instance, S7 Airlines had up to 15 flights per day from Moscow to Samara. Besides, at the beginning of June new flight routes were launched, such as Saint Petersburg — Saransk, Novosibirsk — Samara and Novosibirsk — Kazan” Igor Veretennikov, S7 Airlines Commerce Director, noted.
The increase in passenger volumes on international routes was in line with our expectations. The high season of summer vacations has begun, and flights to the seaside are always in high demand among travelers. In June, S7 Airlines carried passengers on its first flights to new destinations, from Moscow to Sardinia (Cagliari and Olbia), Bari, Reykjavik and Gomel; from Saint Petersburg to Copenhagen and Stockholm, and from Novosibirsk to Tokyo.
Last month S7 Airlines continued to revamp its fleet of aircraft and became the first Russian airline to accept delivery of the modern jetliner Airbus A321neo. The aircraft’s distinguishing characteristics include its high performance, improved environmental friendliness, and also increased maximum range of up to 6,500 km. Now S7 Airlines can offer its passengers new international routes and more opportunities to travel around Russia. To date the airline fleet includes 6 Airbus A320neo and 1 Airbus A321neo.
