Ryanair will operate its largest-ever Swedish winter schedule in 2025, offering 48 routes—including 8 new—from five airports, carrying over 4.3 million passengers annually and supporting more than 3,400 jobs. The plan includes 7 based aircraft (5 in Arlanda, 2 in Gothenburg) and over 400 weekly flights, representing a 25% capacity boost.
The expansion follows Sweden’s abolition of the Aviation Tax on 1 July 2025, to which Ryanair responded with a $200 million summer investment in two new based aircraft, 10 new routes, and 60 jobs. The airline warns, however, that rising Swedavia airport charges—up 9% in 2025—could undermine the tax reform’s benefits.
If costs remain competitive, Ryanair aims to double Swedish traffic to 8 million passengers per year by 2030, add 6 more based aircraft, expand to 150+ routes, and create 6,000 jobs.
