Ryanair has announced its largest-ever summer schedule in Sweden for 2026, highlighting rapid expansion driven by strong demand and favourable policy changes.
The airline will operate 83 routes (including 5 new ones) across six Swedish airports, with new connections such as Stockholm Arlanda–Trapani, Gothenburg–Malta and Porto, and Malmö–London and Warsaw. Ryanair will base 8 aircraft in Sweden—primarily at Stockholm Arlanda Airport and Gothenburg Landvetter Airport—representing a $800 million investment.
The schedule includes:
Over 620 weekly flights
More than 4.4 million passengers annually (+15%)
Support for 3,500+ jobs
Ryanair credits much of this growth to Sweden’s decision to abolish its aviation tax in July 2025, which the airline says has significantly boosted connectivity and tourism. It claims to have delivered 36% of the country’s air traffic growth since then, outperforming competitors like Scandinavian Airlines and Norwegian Air Shuttle, both of which are still below pre-pandemic capacity levels.
However, Ryanair warned that rising airport charges from Swedavia and potential increases in government security fees could threaten this momentum. The airline stated that maintaining competitive costs could enable it to double traffic to 8 million passengers annually by 2030, add more aircraft, and create up to 6,000 additional jobs.
To mark the launch, Ryanair has introduced a promotional seat sale with fares starting from SEK 320.
