The pilots of the Irish airline Ryanair announced a 4-hour strike on December 15, a rather exceptional initiative in an airline that does not recognise any union.
This strike was declared because of the refusal of the company’s management to open negotiations on employment contracts with its Italian staff, said Wednesday to AFP a representative of their union, the National Association of Civil Aviation Pilots (ANPAC).
“ANPAC representatives of Ryanair pilots have asked the company to open negotiations so that they can benefit from the branch agreement of Italian pilots,” said to AFP a representative of ANPAC.
“The management of Ryanair did not even answer and that is why the strike was proclaimed,” he added.
Italian pilots from other low-cost airlines such as Easyjet, Vueling or Norwegian benefit from the industry agreement, said the union representative.
The strike of Italian pilots should last 4 hours from 12:00.
