Ryanair will launch new services from Saarbrücken Airport at the end of March, marking a further expansion of its regional European network.
From 30 March, the low-cost carrier will operate twice-weekly flights to three leisure destinations:
Trapani (Sicily)
Lamezia Terme (southern Italy)
Alicante (Spain)
Located 110 km from Luxembourg City and close to the French border, Saarbrücken is strategically positioned to attract passengers from across the wider cross-border region.
Airport officials said the new routes will strengthen travel options for both tourism and visiting friends and relatives (VFR) traffic.
Saarbrücken Airport handled approximately 311,000 passengers in 2025, positioning it as a smaller regional gateway with growth ambitions supported by low-cost carriers.
Ryanair already maintains a presence in nearby Luxembourg, offering flights to multiple destinations across Europe including France, Ireland, Italy, Malta, Portugal, Spain and the UK.
Bottom line: Ryanair’s move into Saarbrücken underlines a continued focus on underserved regional airports, adding low-frequency leisure routes while tapping into cross-border demand in the Luxembourg–France–Germany triangle.
