It’s already called the second Treaty of Rome, in the first week of September, unions representing pilots and cabin crew from all the countries where Ryanair has a base will gather in Rome. Portuguese newspaper Dinheiro Vivo picked up this information from Portuguese trade union SNPVAC. A list of demands will be drafted during this big meeting. “If Ryanair doesn’t comply with these demands, the airline may face the biggest strike in its history,” trade unions warned.
“As long as Michael O’Leary continues with this management approach, it is the only way we have to show our discontent,” says Bruno Fialho of SNPVAC. After two days of cabin crew strikes on 25 and 26 July, pilots based in different countries went on strike on 10 August.
“We are united and we will continue until the end,” says Fialho. Ryanair added a short statement: “We will continue to meet with the European crew members’ unions with the aim of concluding recognition agreements in the coming weeks and months.“
