Madrid and Palermo are now even closer to the Berlin-Brandenburg capital region following the launch of new connections by the Irish low-cost airline to the Spanish metropolis and Sicilian capital. As of autumn 2015, the airline is set to further expand and make Berlin its base.
New additions to the summer flight schedule. On 29 March, the airline started operating two daily connections between Berlin and Madrid. Flights depart daily from Berlin Schönefeld at 9.45 a.m. and 8.10 p.m. and from the Spanish capital at 6.25 a.m. and 4.50 p.m. Since 3 April, Ryanair has been offering two flights a week to the Sicilian capital Palermo. Flights depart from Schönefeld every Monday and Friday at 1.30 p.m., arriving in Palermo at 4.05 p.m. Return flights also depart every Monday and Friday at 10.30 a.m., landing in Schönefeld at 1.05 p.m. Both routes are served by 189-seater Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

Berlin set to become Ryanair base

On 27 October 2015, the Irish low-cost airline will make Berlin its new base and station five Boeing 737-800 aircraft at Berlin Schönefeld Airport. With 17 new routes from Berlin, Ryanair is increasing its presence threefold to a total of 23 routes and offering attractive new connections. With this commitment, the Irish airline is planning to offer 191 flights per week – including five daily domestic flights to Cologne Bonn Airport – and thus transport up to 2.6 million passengers per year.

Madrid – the heart of Spain

Located in the heart of the Iberian Peninsula, the Spanish capital forms the cultural and economic backbone of Spain. Over 200 days of sun per year provide the perfect opportunity to explore the magnificent palaces, glorious churches, impressive plazas and idyllic parks. Further highlights of this lively metropolis include its culinary diversity and varied and exciting nightlife. Also attracting many a visitor is the nearby ‘El Escorial’, a vast royal palace.

Palermo – the diversity of Sicily

Palermo impresses visitors with its rich history, culture and wealth of sight-seeing attractions. With its variety of churches and palaces, Palermo is regarded as one of the most treasured cities in the Mediterranean. A highlight of the Old Town is the historic baroque square Quattro Canti. The diversity of Sicily – from a visit to Mount Etna, Europe’s biggest active volcano, to testimonies to ancient times – makes the island one of the most popular destinations in Europe.
