RwandAir currently flies to Brussels and London Gatwick with an Airbus A330-200 or A330-300, depending on demand. But, as we mentioned yesterday in the forum, the Central African airline is considering using a Boeing 737 MAX 7 or an Airbus A321neo in the off-peak season, in order to better adapt the capacity to the demand.
According to RwandAir, the flights to Brussels Airport were well filled this summer. “But during the low season, the A330 may be a bit too big“, CEO Yvonne Manzi Makolo told ATWonline. She would rather use a smaller aircraft.
Since RwandAir does own a narrowbody that can cover non-stop the distance between Kigali and Europe, the company is now considering an order for an Airbus A321neoLR or a Boeing 737 MAX 7. Says Yvonne Manzi Makolo: “The two 737 MAX 8 aircraft that we have ordered are just lacking a little range“. The Boeing 737 MAX 7 can fly about 10 percent further than the larger MAX 8.
