Royal Jordanian has sent one of their Boeing 787 Dreamliners to evacuate Jordanian citizens from the island of Sint-Maarten.

After receiving directives from His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Jordanian airline dispatched Boeing 787 Dreamliner JY-BAG to Sint-Maarten. The airliner left Madrid Barajas (MAD) on Monday morning as flight RJ6103. After landing at Sint-Maarten (SXM) at 08:21 local time and picking up 96 Jordanian citizens, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner departed back to MAD at 10:22 local time as flight RJ6104.

The island of Sint-Maarten was badly hit by Hurricane Irma in early September. Many hotels and as other infrastructures were severely damaged. The airport of Sint-Maarten, Princess Juliana International Airport was also damaged and had to be closed for several days. At time of writing it is only open for military flights and relief flights.

Royal Jordanian published a photo on their Twitter page, depicting their Boeing 787 Dreamliner JY-BAG landing on RWY 10 at SXM and highlighting an almost completely vanished Maho Beach.

Few days earlier, KLM already sent a Boeing 747 Jumbo Jet to the island of Sint-Maarten with relief goods.
