Power bank incident on Royal Brunei Airlines flight between Hong Kong and Brunei

On 3 January, a Royal Brunei Airlines (RB) Airbus A320neo (V8-RBD) from Hong Kong to Bandar Seri Begawan encountered a problem with a power bank. White smoke filled the cabin, a flight attendant held a cloth in front of her mouth while discharging the fire extinguisher. 

Royal Brunei Airlines issued a statement on the incident:

All guests and crews were unharmed and the flight landed in Bandar Seri Begawan safely and as scheduled.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Brunei about 8.5 hours after landing.

The cabin crews are trained to follow standard operating procedures to handle such incidents professionally and to ensure the safety of the guests at all times.
