Qantas will significantly expand its Perth–Rome nonstop service for the 2026 northern summer, extending the operating season by eight weeks (3 May–23 October) and boosting peak-season frequency from three to four flights per week. The move adds more than 40 flights and nearly 10,000 seats, almost doubling capacity compared to previous years.
Launched in 2022 as the first nonstop link between Australia and continental Europe, the route has already carried over 70,000 passengers. The service remains popular with travellers from Australia’s east coast, who connect seamlessly through Perth.
Qantas International CEO Cam Wallace said the expansion reflects strong demand and high customer satisfaction, while Western Australian leaders welcomed the announcement as a boost for tourism, trade, and Perth’s role as Australia’s “European gateway.”
