Philippine Airlines (PAL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Airbus for nine additional A350-1000s, doubling its total commitment for the type to 18 aircraft. The agreement was announced at the Farnborough International Airshow.
The airline has already received the first two A350-1000s this year and is using the type as its new long-haul flagship. The additional aircraft will primarily support the expansion of PAL’s network between Manila and North America, including nonstop services to destinations on the East Coast of the United States and Canada.
PAL’s A350-1000s will be configured with 382 seats in a three-class layout, comprising 42 Business Class suites with privacy doors, 24 Premium Economy seats and 316 Economy Class seats, all equipped with the latest in-flight entertainment and connectivity.
The airline said the A350-1000 has already demonstrated its range, fuel efficiency, reliability and passenger comfort, enabling further expansion across the North American market. Airbus highlighted the aircraft’s ability to reduce fuel burn, operating costs and CO? emissions by 25% compared with previous-generation widebody aircraft.
At the end of June 2026, the Airbus A350 Family had accumulated 1,595 firm orders from 68 customers worldwide.
