Oman Air has launched a new service to Copenhagen via Baghdad, marking a significant expansion of its international network and its first direct commercial presence in both Iraq and Denmark. The inaugural flight departed on Saturday, 20 December 2025, operating under Fifth Freedom traffic rights and connecting the Middle East with Northern Europe.
The route is operated by a Boeing 737 MAX and is designed to meet the growing demand for travel between the region and Europe. Oman Air stated that the service supports its broader strategy to enhance global connectivity and strengthen strategic links between the Middle East and European markets.
The launch was marked by official ceremonies at both Baghdad International Airport and Copenhagen Airport. The Baghdad event was attended by senior representatives from Oman and Iraq, including Sheikh Mahmoud bin Muhanna Al Kharousi, Charge d’Affaires of the Sultanate of Oman’s Embassy in Iraq, Iraq’s Minister of Transport Razzaq Muhaibis, and senior officials from Baghdad International Airport and the Iraqi Airports Administration. A smaller welcome ceremony took place upon arrival in Copenhagen.
