After the wet-lease by Thomas Cook Airlines Scandinavia on 1 and 2 August and before a wet-lease to Air Austral from 24 August, Hi Fly’s Airbus A380 will, from today, operate a daily flight for Norwegian.

As mentioned in our forum yesterday, the airline is leasing the superjumbo between 3 and 12 August for one of its two daily flights between London Gatwick and New York JFK. Normally Norwegian Air UK’s Boeing 787-9 are operating on the route.

Hi Fly’s A380 in the special “Save the Coral Reefs” livery has the same configuration that Singapore Airlines has on their A380s, with a total of 471 seats. This includes 12 first class seats, 60 business class seats, and 399 economy seats.

No good news for passengers or aviation enthusiasts that are eager to fly on the A380: a quick glance at the Norwegian booking engine shows that all tickets are sold out. Will premium class passengers be able to enjoy the luxurious first class suites?
