Scandinavian tour operator Spies / Ving is deploying a special charter flight to bring home more than 300 Nordic travellers stranded in Asia and the Indian Ocean after unrest in the Middle East disrupted regional air traffic and closed several airspaces.
The repatriation flight will be operated by the group’s airline Sunclass Airlines using an Airbus A330neo, the carrier’s largest aircraft. The flight is scheduled to depart on 8 March, first flying to Maldives, then continuing to Phuket in Thailand, before returning to Copenhagen during the night of 9 March.
The aircraft will collect travellers stranded across several destinations, with affected passengers being repositioned to the Maldives and Phuket from locations including Sri Lanka, Malaysia, and Bali.
In recent days, Spies/Ving has also been arranging alternative return journeys for customers from Dubai and Doha using other airlines.
According to the company, deploying its own aircraft provides a rare opportunity to secure seats during a period when commercial flight availability is extremely limited due to the ongoing disruption. Affected travellers are being contacted directly with details of their return arrangements.
