A man without ID or travel documents managed to board a Norwegian flight from Tromsø to Oslo earlier this week by closely following another passenger through the boarding gate, according to Tromsø Airport manager Ivar Helsing Schrøen. The breach was only discovered after police were called to deal with the disruptive passenger on board.
Both the airport and Norwegian have launched reviews of their boarding and security routines, stressing that such incidents are extremely rare. Norwegian confirmed it will also report the case to the authorities.
This is not the first occurrence at Tromsø Airport: in 2023, a similar attempt was made at the temporary international terminal, though that stowaway was stopped before departure.
