In April 2025, the Norwegian Group—comprising Norwegian and Widerøe—carried a combined 2.27 million passengers, reflecting solid growth and strong operational performance across both airlines.
Norwegian flew 1.93 million passengers, while Widerøe served 334,000, marking a 6% year-on-year increase for Widerøe. The group achieved a notable rise in passenger load factors: Norwegian’s climbed to 83.6% (+3.2 pts) and Widerøe’s to 71.8% (+7.7 pts), even as capacity expanded.
Easter travel demand contributed to high load factors despite increased capacity. Widerøe broke its single-day passenger record twice during the month, with over 15,800 travellers on April 30 alone. Both airlines maintained high punctuality and regularity, with Norwegian achieving 88.1% on-time performance and 99.6% flight regularity.
Looking ahead, Norwegian reports robust booking momentum for summer, with ticket sales exceeding last year’s levels. Widerøe is expanding its route offering, particularly in response to strong local travel demand following lower fares under a new public service obligation (PSO) contract that began a year ago.
Additionally, Widerøe announced plans to join Norwegian’s loyalty programme, Norwegian Reward, by autumn 2025. This integration will offer seamless travel and loyalty benefits across both carriers, including a unified digital experience and better flight connections—traffic combining both airlines has increased 58% since Norwegian’s acquisition of Widerøe.
The group’s leadership expressed confidence heading into the summer, crediting their teams’ operational excellence and the growing synergy between the two airlines.
