Share

Norwegian Group transported 2.62 million passengers in May 2026, with 2.25 million travelling on Norwegian and 364,000 on regional subsidiary Widerøe. The group reported strong operational performance ahead of the busy summer season, with high levels of punctuality and reliability.

Norwegian increased capacity by 5% compared with May 2025 and carried 3% more passenger traffic. The airline operated an average of 93 aircraft during the month and achieved a regularity rate of 99.7%, meaning almost all scheduled flights operated as planned. Punctuality improved to 89.8%, placing the carrier among Europe’s best-performing airlines.

Despite strong demand, Norwegian’s load factor fell slightly to 81.5% as capacity growth outpaced passenger growth. Chief Executive Officer Geir Karlsen said demand across the network remains healthy, with many popular routes selling quickly as the summer travel season approaches.

Regional carrier Widerøe also posted positive results. Passenger traffic increased by 4%, while load factor rose to 69.7%. The airline recorded a regularity rate of 98.6% and an impressive punctuality rate of 95.7%, up 2.7 percentage points from a year earlier.

Both airlines emphasised that recent increases in fuel prices have not resulted in any flight cancellations. Widerøe CEO Tore Jenssen said the airline remains focused on delivering reliable operations and maintaining a competitive offering for customers throughout the peak holiday season.

The results suggest the Norwegian Group is entering the summer period with strong operational momentum, supported by robust travel demand and industry-leading reliability.
