IAG has abandoned its intention of buying Norwegian and will sell its 3.93% stake

In a very short statement, International Airlines Group (IAG) confirmed that it does not intend to make an offer for Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA (Norwegian) and that, in due course, it will be selling its 3.93 per cent shareholding in Norwegian.

In 2018, IAG briefly considered an offer on 100 percent of the share capital of NAS. Proposals that were rejected by Norwegian’s board. Norwegian responded to the news:  “Norwegian’s plans and strategy remain unchanged. The company’s goal is to continue building a sustainable business to the benefit of its customers, employees and shareholders,” said Chairman of the Norwegian Board, Bjørn Kise.
