Norway’s historic qualification for the FIFA World Cup quarter-finals has prompted both Scandinavian carriers to add special non-stop flights from Oslo to Miami, allowing hundreds of supporters to attend the national team’s clash with England.
SAS has scheduled a dedicated round-trip service using a 266-seat Airbus A330. The flight will depart Oslo on 10 July at 13:00, arriving in Miami at 17:10 local time, with the return scheduled for 12 July at 18:00, arriving back in Oslo the following morning. Tickets are available through the airline’s website and mobile app.
The airline said the additional flight continues its long-standing tradition of adding capacity for major sporting events involving Norwegian teams. SAS noted that it had already increased transatlantic capacity when the World Cup group-stage schedule was announced, adding extra departures and deploying larger aircraft to meet anticipated demand.
Meanwhile, Norse Atlantic Airways has announced a second direct Dreamliner service between Oslo and Miami after its first special World Cup flight sold out almost immediately. According to the airline, exceptional demand following Norway’s victory over Brazil led it to secure an additional aircraft, crew and airport slots within days.
With two Boeing 787 Dreamliners operating to Miami, Norse expects to carry a total of 676 supporters—more than one percent
of the stadium’s capacity. The airline also highlighted the festive atmosphere onboard its earlier World Cup charter to New York, where fans turned the journey itself into part of the tournament experience through singing and traditional celebrations.
Both airlines say the additional services underline their ability to respond rapidly to extraordinary demand and reflect the unprecedented excitement generated by Norway’s first-ever appearance in a FIFA World Cup quarter-final. Tickets for the additional Norse flight are expected to go on sale on 7 July, subject to final operational preparations.
