Norse Atlantic Airways will operate a one-off direct flight from Oslo to New York to allow Norwegian fans to attend their country’s FIFA World Cup round-of-16 match against Brazil on 5 July, following Norway’s dramatic 2-1 victory over Ivory Coast.
The airline said it immediately redeployed aircraft and crew after Norway secured qualification, with the flight departing Oslo on Friday and arriving in New York the same evening local time. CEO Eivind Roald said the service reflects Norse’s ambition to operate as an “Airline on Demand” by enabling supporters to experience a memorable sporting occasion.
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner flight, carrying up to 338 passengers, will feature a special onboard programme celebrating the airline’s Norse explorer heritage and the historic rematch with Brazil, whom Norway famously defeated at the 1998 World Cup. Tickets will go on sale on 1 July on a first-come, first-served basis. The airline also highlighted its daily London Gatwick–New York JFK service as an alternative option for supporters travelling from elsewhere in Europe.
