Norse Atlantic finalises IndiGo wet-lease deal with two more Boeing 787 Dreamliners

Share

Norse Atlantic Airways has finalised a wet lease agreement with IndiGo for two additional Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, completing the six-aircraft scope outlined in their November 2024 Letter of Intent. The agreement marks a major milestone in the partnership between the Norwegian long-haul carrier and India’s largest airline.

The deal secures fixed long-term revenues for Norse Atlantic, aligns with its strategy of maximising fleet utilisation across ACMI and scheduled services, and reduces exposure to market volatility.

The two new aircraft will commence operations by early 2026, supporting IndiGo’s long-haul expansion from India. The initial lease term is six months, with an option to extend up to 18 months, pending regulatory approval. The first of the six aircraft was delivered in March 2025 and is currently operating on IndiGo’s Delhi–Bangkok route.

Bjørn Tore Larsen, CEO and founder of Norse Atlantic, emphasised that the expanded wet-lease agreement enhances the airline’s strategic and financial resilience in a fluctuating market.

This collaboration supports IndiGo’s growing ambitions in the long-haul segment. The airline, which carried over 118 million passengers in FY25, has 30 Airbus A350-900s on order (with 70 options), with deliveries expected from 2027.
